Click here to watch August Greene perform

August Greene is the super soulful group made up of Common, Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins. In 2016 NPR had a special edition of tiny desk concerts at the White House for President Obama. At that time the untitled trio performed “Letter to the Free,” an original song for Ava DuVernay’s Netflix documentary 13th that eventually won an Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.

August Green first official visit to the NPR headquarters included some very special guests vocalists like Brandy, Maimouna Youssef and Andra Day. The band’s upcoming self-titled album will be released March 9, 2018

August Greene is what happens when talent meets soul, intelligence, and purpose. This is definitely one of the best editions of the Tiny Desk concerts. Hopefully this music version of Voltron will inspire, educate, and entertain the masses all over the world.
