From the moment you turn on the “King Remembered in Time” or Big K.R.I.T, casual and hardcore fans alike should rejoice as Krit serves as a beacon of light for a music industry that is slowly but surely dying out. The Meridian, Mississippi native is on the rise and is determined to let nothing stand in his path. Older Hip-Hop heads will immediately notice his passion and commitment to his predecessors and those that came before him. What truly sets Krit apart is his unique ability of having balance within his music without getting in his own way; one could argue that he has an ear for music that rivals the like of Kanye West among others.
To learn about KRITs life (born Justin Scott) you really just need to listen to his music and watch how he takes you on a journey through his life and times while not missing a beat on any lyrics or production. True Krit fans will already know this but it seems as though Krit Possess an “old soul” or someone who is wise beyond their years as Krit constantly displays on tracks. His genius infusion of musical greats such as Bobby Womack, Willie Hutch and Jerry Butler to name a few show the type of artist were dealing with here. Whether it’s the tales of the south he spits or the soulful and ambitious spoken word segments Krit is making sure he leaves a lasting impression not just on your ears, but your mind and soul as well.
Couple his lyrical talents with the fact that he is a producer of the highest order having produced for many great names such as Ludacris, Smoke Dza, Wiz Khalifa, and Curren$y just to name a few, all the while producing for his own talents. Make no mistake about it this man keeps busy and has plenty of material to show for it. Krit being a young artist sporting upward 10 mixtapes and 1 full length studio album to his credit at age 26 already a very impressive resume to say the least. Krit may not be respected as much by a mainstream audience, he is very much so by his peers as evidenced by features from such artist as Bun B, Curren$y, 8ball, Yelawolf, Asap Rocky, and even the legendary B.B King.
Currently Krit is on tour and has been reported to have been working on a second studio album with an unknown release date; he also stated that the supposed album title can be found on his first album during the opening seconds of the intro. Big Krit has solidified his spot in the Hip Hop game. The only thing that’s left for him is to take that next step into the limelight and become the star and savior that he was long claimed to be. Can he accomplish this feat? If you listen to Krit you know he has the potential and he knows it as well but only time will tell.
