The Griselda movement has brought back that grimy real hip hop sound loud and clear to the rap mainstream to help drown out the redundant yodeling, whining, super saturated, auto tune sound that dominates the mainstream. Artist like Stove God Cooks offers his contributions to keep the torch burning for that sound alot of us miss and love.
The reason you haven’t heard of Stove God Cooks is that no one but Cooks himself was aware of his new rap name until he finished his recent debut project Reasonable Drought. Stove God was formally known within the hip-hop community as Aaron Cooks. In 2015 Brand Nubian rap legend Lord Jamar along with Busta Rhymes label “The Conglomerate“ took him under their wings and put him on. Cooks has a B.E.T. awards cypher, a freestyle on Sway In The Morning, and a video for his song Yellow/Day up with a Busta rhymes cameo appearance under his belt.
Stove God had been working closely with underrated hip hop veteran Roc Marciano and together they put out a great piece of true grimy hip hop art entitled “Reasonable Drought” The hip hop culture is looking UP!
